It can become easy to make our decisions based on what is happening around us at a particular point in time. It is important not to make long-term decisions based on temporary situations because of the impact that can have on our future opportunities.
There was recently a video, an article, and I'm not sure how much other publicity regarding a family that pays $5,000 per month for childcare for their 4 children. Ignoring the dollar amounts of what are high earners and high expenses, the mother presents well why this decision makes sense for them. They are playing the long game for their finances. Also, it's not our business when someone makes decisions we don't agree with (unless they are asking for our money to do it).
While this is a personal decision with many points to consider, remaining in the work force or staying home to raise children, this is a great example of temporary financial challenges for a long-term opportunity.
Make sure when you are making your own financial decisions that you are considering the consequences for both today and tomorrow.
