It's almost FAFSA time (for school year 2024-2025) - 9/15/2023

If you have, or are, a college student you are probably starting to think about the dreaded FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. Usually, the FAFSA forms go live on October 1. This year, due to form and process changes applications are expected to be available mid-December. Gather your information now so this doesn't become a distraction during the holiday season.

Start gathering the necessary information so that you can get your FAFSA form done easily and early. Many colleges and universities offer their scholarship money on a first come basis.

You will need:

-Social Security Card

-Driver's license

-Alien registration card if you are not a US citizen

-2022 Tax return, w-2s and other income related forms

-Your parent's 2022 tax return, w-2s and other income related forms if you are a dependent

-Documentation of other non-taxable income such as social security, veterans' benefits, etc. -Current bank and brokerage statements

This is not a complete list of everything you might need. It is a list of the most common information required for completion of the FAFSA form.
