What do you wish you could have told your younger self about money? What would you like to tell your future self about how you are using today's money? What do you think your future self might wish they could tell you now about how you are managing your money today?
There are always moments when we wish we had time machines for one reason or another. Money is often one of those reasons. Going back in time to give ourselves the winning lottery number or the best stock pick is a dream of many people. Unfortunately, if there is a time machine it appears to be out of reach of most of our future selves.
But we can and should take a moment to think about how our current decisions with money will impact our future selves. I don't want to put you on a path of 'woulda coulda shoulda' but thinking about the things you wish you had done better with your money management when you were younger can help you narrow down what your older self would wish you were doing better now. It isn't about denying yourself everything today in order to prepare for the future but in finding a healthy balance between spending your money today and saving for tomorrow.
